Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

bHop ("we", "our", "us") cares about your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using bHop, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

2. Photo Verification & Biometric Information

bHop offers an optional photo-verification feature that lets you earn a verified badge by confirming you are a real person who matches your profile photos. This feature is entirely opt-in: it only runs when you choose to start it, and only after you give your express consent on the in-app disclosure screen.

What happens when you verify: you take a short video selfie guided by an on-screen face challenge. The selfie is streamed securely to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Rekognition, our verification service provider, which (a) confirms the selfie is of a live person rather than a photo or recording, and (b) compares a single frame of the selfie against your profile photos to check that they show the same person. This processing may involve the creation of transient facial measurements ("facial geometry"), which is considered biometric information in some jurisdictions.

What we store — and what we don't: we do not store your selfie video, any selfie images, or any facial geometry, template, or faceprint. The selfie and any facial measurements derived from it exist only in temporary memory while the check runs and are permanently discarded when the check completes — in every case within minutes of your verification attempt. This is our biometric retention-and-destruction schedule. The only records we keep are non-biometric: which of your photos were verified and when, and a log of your verification attempts and their outcomes (used to limit repeat attempts and review abuse).

How it's used: your selfie is used solely to perform the verification you requested. It is never used for advertising, never shared with other users, never sold, and never used to identify you in any other context. AWS processes it as our service provider under confidentiality obligations.

Your choices: verification is never required to use bHop. If you delete a verified photo, its verified status is removed with it. Verification records are deleted with your account as described in Section 10. Questions about this feature can be sent to info@blindsparksgroup.com.

3. Video Call Recording

To keep video dates safe and give our safety team reliable evidence when something goes wrong, every video call on bHop is recorded. Recording is a condition of using the video call feature and cannot be turned off. A notice is shown before every call, and you consent by choosing "Agree and Join." If you do not consent, do not join video calls.

How it works: recordings are made on the participants' own devices — your device records the other participant's video together with your own microphone audio, and their device does the same in reverse. Recordings stay on the device that made them and are not transmitted to us unless a report is filed.

If a call is reported: when either participant reports the call, the recordings of that call are uploaded to us automatically from both participants' devices — including from your device if the other participant is the one who reports. Uploaded recordings are used solely by our safety team to review the report and enforce our rules. They are never used for advertising, never shared with other users, and are disclosed outside bHop only as described in Section 6 (for example, to law enforcement where required by law).

Deletion: if no report is filed, recordings are deleted from the device automatically about 12 hours after the call — if the device is offline at that time, as soon as it next connects, and in every case within 7 days. Recordings uploaded as part of a report are kept while the report is reviewed and deleted no later than 90 days after the report is resolved (see Section 10).

4. Events, Check-In & Attendee Lists

bHop lets you discover and attend real-world events hosted at partner venues. When you use events, we collect your RSVP ("I plan to go"), a check-in record when you arrive (the event, date, and time), your attendee-list choices and connection decisions, and any event rewards you redeem.

What event organizers receive: when you plan to attend or check in to an event, we share limited attendance information with that event's organizer and venue staff so they can manage entry and capacity: your first name, your RSVP status, and the times you planned and checked in. Door staff see your first name when they scan your entry code, and organizers can download a door list containing this same information for their event. We never share your contact information, photos, or any other profile details with organizers; messages organizers send you are relayed through bHop, so organizers do not receive your phone number or email address.

Organizers are independent businesses: event organizers and venues are not bHop service providers. Attendance information they receive — including door lists they download — is retained and used under their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Attendee lists are opt-in: after an event, attendees who checked in can choose to appear on that event's attendee list. If you opt in, other checked-in attendees who also opted in can see your first name, profile photo, and gender for a limited time after the event; visibility is reciprocal — you appear only while you can also look. If you and another attendee both choose to connect, you each become visible to the other as a contact, including the full profile you share with matches and the name of the event where you met. You can opt out at any time, which also withdraws any connection choices you have made that are still pending.

What other users see: before and during an event, other users see only aggregate numbers (such as how many people plan to attend) — never who. Public event pages on our website contain no information about you.

Door lists that event organizers have downloaded are retained under the organizer's own policies (see Section 4).

Biometric information processed during photo verification is never stored; see Section 2 for the verification retention-and-destruction schedule.
